AS Monaco announced the re-signing of forward Amara Sy for the next two seasons. At 36 years of age, Sy is the most experienced of the Monegasques.
The French team will compete in EuroCup for the first time in the history of the club in the next season.
Per EuroCup Basketball:
“AS Monaco ensured it will have one of its most experienced players around for its 7DAYS EuroCup debut by re-signing forward Amara Sy for two more seasons. Sy (2.01 meters, 36 years old) has spent the past three seasons with the club, which he helped win three straight French Leaders Cups. Last season he averaged 10.9 points and 3.2 rebounds in the French League in helping Monaco finish atop the regular season standings and reach the playoff finals. Sy has six seasons on previous EuroCup experience – two with Le Mans and four with ASVEL Villeurbanne. He has averaged 11.0 points and 4.0 rebounds in 51 EuroCup appearances. Sy began his career with ASVEL, with which he played in the EuroLeague in 2001-02. He has also played for Orleans in France, AEK Athens in Greece, Bakersfield in the D-League and Murcia in Spain. Sy has won the French championship twice.”
