Mantas Kalnietis scored a EuroCup career-high 22 points in 27 minutes, leading ASVEL to a blowout win over title contender Zenit St. Petersburg 89 – 68 and the 4-1 in Group C.
Both ASVEL and Kalnietis were particularly “hot” in the third quarter. The Lithuanian guard dropped 15 points in seven minutes as ASVEL overpowered Zenit 27 – 18 in the period. The hosts continued to dominate with the same ease to conclude the night in a triumphant fashion.
Kalnietis added five assists while DeMarcus Nelson had 14 points and five rebounds. Miro Bilan posted a double-double of 10 points and 10 boards.
Sergey Karasev (18 points) and Phil Scrubb (14 points) stood out from Zenit that is now 3-2.
In Spain, Bojan Dubljevic (15 points, seven rebounds) and Will Thomas (15 points, six rebounds) helped Valencia down Trento 87 – 66 and improve to 5-0. Trento (Dustin Hogue 13 points, four rebounds) dropped to 1-4 in the Group.
