Valencia prevailed at home over Turk Telekom Ankara and made one more solid step towards the next stage of the 7Days EuroCup.
The final score was 101-83 with the hosts building an eight-point lead at halftime and keeping it until the end. Five players scored in double digits for the winners with Sam Van Rossom leading the charge with 13 points and seven assists, while Mike Tobey scored 15 points.
Behind 17 points by Sylven Landesberg and an impressive double-double by Reggie Redding (12 p. 10 as.) the Turks had a good start and a four-point lead (21-17) at the end of the first quarter, but after that, they couldn’t keep up. After all, Valencia finished the game with 21/24 two-pointers for a record 87.5% accuracy in the history of the competition.
On Tuesday, Dolomiti Energia Trento beat LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne 79-77 to snap a five-game losing streak with Dustin Hogue (photo) having a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Italians. The French club is now tied with Valencia and lost the chance to book its Top16 ticket from this week.
It has to be noted that Nikola Jovanovic of Trento, has been sanctioned with a three-game suspension for committing an aggression against an opposing player on occasion of their away game against of Partizan NIS and missed the game.
Last but not least, behind 21 points by Sergey Karasev, Zenit St. Petersburg beat Partizan 75-71. Karasev scored the most crucial shot of the game and stopped a 7-0 run by the guests with 49 seconds left. Nobody scored after that. Brandon Jennings added eight points, three rebounds and three assists for the winners.
