Crvena Zvezda became the third team from EuroCup Group A to advance in the Top 16. The Serbian squad routed Leonessa Brescia 106 – 67 at home and then mathematically moved to the next stage via the 76 – 71 victory of Monaco over Galatasaray. The latter result meant the elimination of the Turkish team.
Red Star made its point early, taking a 31 – 14 lead in the first period and never looking back after that. Joe Ragland paced the squad with 16 points and 10 assists.
Bryon Allen had 17 points for Brescia.
Monaco survived a Galatasaray comeback from 17 points down, 63 – 46, at the end of the third quarter to win the match. The Turkish team made it a one-possession game, 72 – 70 with 26 seconds left but an unsportsmanlike foul by Jaka Klobucar doomed their efforts.
Elmedin Kikanovic (14 points, eight rebounds) and Ian Hummer (14 points) were the top scorers for Monaco. Tal Webster and Aaron Harrison scored 18 apiece for Galatasaray.
