LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne started of the EuroCup Top 16 stage with a 67-65 road win against Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar in Group F.
Alpha Kaba registered a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds while David Lighty scored 15 in addition to Amine Noua’s 13 points.
For Lokomotiv, Jamel McLean scored 17 points along with eight rebounds while Mateusz Ponitka added 13 and Dmitry Kulagin 12 points.
The sides were tied after the first ten minutes (18-18) and at the halftime (34-34). It was a balanced effort all the way until the end but ASVEL’s 67-61 lead with two minutes left ended up being enough for the French squad’s win despite them not scoring at all until the end of the game.
