Except for AS Monaco’s two early leads, Alba Berlin was the one controlling the match and eventually recorded an 83-74 home win in Group E of EuroCup Top 16 stage.
Luke Sikma led the winning charge with 17 points and five assists while Tim Schneider helped with 16 in addition to Martin Hermannsson and Landry Nnoko’s 11 points each. Nnoko also grabbed nine boards.
For Monaco, Elmedin Kikanoivc had a big night with 26 points and eight rebounds followed by Paul Lacombe’s double-double of 20 points and ten rebounds.
Monaco was ahead 14-11 early but they couldn’t keep up with Alba which went on the halftime with a 44-38 lead and increased it to double-digits after the break (65-53). Monaco did manage to come closer in the final period (70-66) but the German squad quickly distanced itself once again (82-68) and secured the win.
Yesterday (2/1), Dominique Sutton pushed Rytas Vilnius to victory against Partizan NIS Belgrade.
