With two seconds remaining in Game 1 of the EuroCup best-of-three quarterfinal series between Alba Berlin and Unicaja Malaga and the score 90 – 89, Mathias Lessort soared for the putback slam that put the Spanish side up in the score.
On the other end, Rokas Giedratis’ 3-point attempt went off target. Niels Giffey made the tip-in but the basket didn’t count and Malaga won the match 90 – 91 after coming back from a 58 – 37 halftime deficit.

“They switched, Brian (Roberts) took a big shot so I had a mismatch on the rebound so I tried to take advantage of this and get in the best position I can. Luckily the ball fell to my hands,” Lessort said in the post-game flash interview. His Malaga hosts the next match and needs one more win to advance in the semifinals.
Lessort had previously made a key block on Joshiku Saibo with the score 90 – 89. The French center finished with a game-high 18 points and seven rebounds while Adam Waczynski had 17 points.
Peyton Siva scored 14 points and dished out seven assists in his return to EuroCup action. Niels Giffey added 13 points and Martin Hermannsson 13 points and 10 assists.
