Rokas Giedraitis scored a game-high 23 points as Alba Berlin defeated Unicaja Malaga 101 – 81 on the road to tie the best-of-three EuroCup Quarterfinals series between the two teams.
Malaga had taken a 1-0 lead in Berlin Tuesday (5/3) but didn’t manage to sweep the series at home. Now the quarterfinals are back in Alba’s arena for a “winner takes all” match.
The hosts were up 25 – 21 near the end of the first period but Alba proceeded to assume control of the game. The German team went up 43 – 51 at the break and retained the lead that even reached 20 points.
Giorgi Shermadini (17 points, five rebounds) and Brian Roberts (13 points, nine assists) stood out for Malaga. Apart from Giedraitis, Luke Sikma posted 14 points, six rebounds and five assists on Alba’s side.
