Croatian club KK Cedevita and Slovenian traditional power Petrol Olimpija are no longer two separate teams, as they were officially merged Tuesday under the name ΚΚ Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana.
The newly-consisted team will compete in 7DAYS EuroCup and the ABA League, but won’t participate in the Slovenian league first round as Sanja Modric reports. On the other hand, there will also be a junior team of Cedevita in Zagreb.
“For the first time in history two professional clubs from different countries are merging”, commented Cedevita President Emil Tedeschi during the press conference of the presentation. Olimpija had been relegated from the first division of the Adriatic League this season and after this turn of events, there’s an open spot on the Adriatic League second division.
