Buducnost Podgorica has reached an agreement with Slobodan Subotic who will become the team’s new head coach according to Eurohoops sources. The deal is to become official quite soon.
Subotic will thus return to coaching in Europe following his 2017 stint with Cibona Zagreb. Buducnost is expected to have an ambitious budget for 2019-2020 and the club will apply for a EuroLeague wild card, even though they realize their chances are slim.
Throughout his career, Subotic has coaches such teams as Panathinaikos, Olympiacos, Aris, AEK, PAOK and Cedevita Zagreb. He’s won the 1997 Korac Cup with Aris, the 1998 and 1999 Greek League with Panathinaikos plus the 2002 Greek Cup as coach of Olympiacos.
As a player, Subotic was a five-time Greek League and Cup champion with Aris.
