AS Monaco added versatility and experience to its frontcourt by signing a one-year deal with veteran big man Kim Tillie, the club announced on Monday. The French League runner-up signed Tillie (2.10 meters, 29 years old), who arrives from Herbalife Gran Canaria, where he averaged 6.5 points and 2.7 rebounds in 29 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games last season. He started his professional career with a fellow French side ASVEL Villeurbanne after playing college basketball for the University of Utah. Tillie has also played for UCAM Murcia and Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz of Spain as well as for Olympiacos Piraeus of Greece. He helped Baskonia reach the EuroLeague Final Four in 2016. Tillie has also been a member of the French national team, with which he won a bronze medal at the 2014 FIBA World Cup in Spain and competed at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. “It was above all the conversation I had with coach Sasa Obradovic that really convinced me to come to Monaco”, Tillie said. “The project appealed to me and there is also the fact that I have a lot of family in the area. It’s (also) true that I wanted to play in a team with very high goals and Monaco is one of them.”
