Virtus Bologna, one of the most storied clubs in European basketball, made a move that will have eyes from all over the world fixed on them for next season. Milos Teodosic has agreed to a deal with the “Black V” until 2022.
This move makes the current Basketball Champions League champions contenders both for the Italian Legabasket and also for the 7Days EuroCup trophy. For Teodosic this is going to be his first season outside the EuroLeague or the NBA.
There are no opt-out clauses to the three-year contract which will make Teodosic one of the best-paid players in Europe. It’s obvious that Virtus Bologna by signing him makes a move that can open for them the path for a spot in the EuroLeague of the 2020-21 season.
Under the new EuroLeague allocations criteria that can be achieved by Virtus being one of the two EuroCup finalists, or by getting one of the three wildcards.
The 32 years old Teodosic returns to Europe after two seasons in the NBA with the LA Clippers.
He was the EuroLeague MVP in 2010, a EuroLeague champion in 2016 and won numerous more titles and individual awards. He is considered the best European point guard of his generation.
