Austin Daye posted team-highs 15 points and eight rebounds as Reyer Venezia beat Tofas Bursa 76 – 65 at home to capture its first win of the 2019-2020 EuroCup season.
Tofas needed more than Devin Williams’ strong double-double effort (26 points, 10 rebounds) and sustained a loss that dropped them to 1-2 in Group B of the regular season. The Turkish team cut a 14-point lead, 38 – 24 to four, 49 – 44, early in the second half but that was the closest they got. Venezia took a double-digit advantage and, with seven minutes to go, went ahead by 15, 68 – 53.
Apart from Daye, Mike Bramos scored 14 points for Venezia.
In the other Group B game held Tuesday (15/10), Partizan Belgrade made the three out of three by beating Rytas Vilnius 66 – 61 on the road.
Marcus Paige dropped 17 points and Nemanja Gordic notched 13 points, seven assists and six rebounds for the winning side. Pako Cruz (15 points, five assists) and Eimantas Bendzius (15 points, six rebounds) were the top contributors for Rytas that is now 1-2.
