Two players will share the MVP honors of EuroCup’s Round 8 after leading their teams to victories. Michael Bramos of Umana Reyer Venice and Tyler Larson of EWE Baskets Oldenburg are on the spotlight with the two best performances of the round!
Round 8 of 7DAYS EuroCup Regular Season saw six new teams advance to the Top 16, and when the dust settled, two players who helped their teams get there – Michael Bramos of Umana Reyer Venice and Tyler Larson of EWE Baskets Oldenburg – also earned recognition as co-MVPs this week. Bramos and Larson shared performance index ratings of 28, the highest among all winning players this round. Bramos paced Reyer to a 73-80 road win at Tofas Bursa that was good for a Top 16 ticket. He scored a career-high 28 points in his fourth EuroCup season, making 11 of 15 field goal attempts. Larson led Oldenburg to a 108-88 home win against Trento and into the Top 16. His 31 points and the team’s 108 were both Oldenburg club records. Larson also added 5 boards, 3 assists and 1 steal to his great performance. Two players had higher PIRs this round but were not eligible for the MVP honor since their teams lost. Klemen Prepelic of Joventut Badalona had a career-high PIR of 35 while James Blackmon of Dolomiti Energia Trento came next with a 29 PIR. Completing the top five individual performances of the week was Alex Hamilton of Maccabi Rishon LeZion (26).
Individual highs: Hannah, Andorra, 13 assists
Larson was the top scorer this week with 31 points and Prepelic followed closely with 30, which allowed him to climb to the top spot for the season so far with 18.7 points per game. Jonathan Hamilton of Darussafaka Tekfen Istanbul was huge under the glass with 13 boards, a personal best, while Alan Williams of Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar tops the rankings with 9.0 rebounds per game. Clevin Hannah of MoraBanc Andorra was the best passer this week with 13 assists, a personal best for him in his third EuroCup season. Limoges CSP’s Semaj Christon still leads the overall rankings (8.0 apg.). On the defensive end, four players had as many as 4 steals each: Prepelic, Kartal Ozmizrak of Darussafaka, Langston Hall of Promitheas Patras and Tarik Phillip of Tofas Bursa. Anthony Clemmons of AS Monaco leads the steals rankings (2.9 spg.). Finally, Hamilton and William Mosley of Partizan NIS Belgrade had 4 blocks apiece, and the former stays at the top of the season rankings with 2.1 per game.
