Promitheas Patras president Vangelis Liolios talked about EuroLeague CEO Jordi Bertomeu’s visit at the training facilities of the team, stating that the latter was “impressed” by the overall longterm plan of the Greek club.
Here’s what Liolios said to the Greek national television after the Greek League 77 – 66 win of his team over Lavrio:
“Mr. Bertomeu had said that he wanted to take a look at the organization of Promitheas and see how the team works. He saw with his own eyes our infrastructure and facilities. He saw the plan we have. I’m talking about our vision and how we will materialize it, not about dreams. It’s not an economic plan. The thing about us is reaching a point where we don’t need any financer. We must invest in our own infrastructure and produce. This plan impressed him [Bertomeu]. We want to materialize it and not be just talks. This is the way we know and want. There are different models but we want this because we know to materialize. When you put money on infrastructure, then you invest. When you put money on a professional team, it’s a waste.”
Promitheas is currently competing in the EuroCup for the first time in the history of the club. The Greek side has already punched a ticket to the Top 16 and is currently tied with Virtus Bologna in the first place of Group A.
