Partizan Belgrade president Ostoja Mijailovic said that the club wants to sign forward/center Joffrey Lauvergne. The French player is under a two-year contract with EuroLeague powerhouse Fenerbahce Beko that expires at the end of 2019-2020.
“It’s true, we are interested in Lauvergne,” Mijailovic said to Kurir. “We’ll see if we can manage to realize his return to Partizan. There’s an option to take over a part of his contract or to sign a [new] contract with him. However, we’ll first have to wait for the opinion of our staff.” Lauvergne had his breakthrough season in EuroLeague with Partizan in 2013-2014.
According to sources, Lauvergne is earning around 2 million dollars per year by Fenerbahce.
Lauvergne didn’t play in the last two games of Fenerbahce, the defeat to Valencia and the win over Olympiacos Piraeus. Fenerbahce coach Zeljko Obradovic said that Lauvergne’s absence vs. Valencia was a “coaching decision.”
