CSKA Moscow officially added Howard Sant-Roos, the Russian team announced on Saturday morning. The contract signed will expire upon the conclusion of the 2022-23 season with club’s and player’s options in the end of this season.
“It is a huge honor for me to be part of CSKA organization,” noted the Cuban swingman, “Thank you so much for the opportunity. I am ready to give my 1000% to help the team.”
His contract with AEK was bought out by the EuroLeague champions. CSKA was in search for a suitable replacement following Will Clyburn’s season-ending injury, took its time until finally nailing its guy.
“Howard was on our radar for a long time,” admitted Dimitris Itoudis, “He can play on every position from 1 to 3, so we hope he can fill in for injured Will.”
EuroLeague comes as an earned prize for Sant-Roos. After playing in lower divisions of Germany and Italy made his way to Nymburk, afterwards helped Darussafaka win the EuroCup title and joined AEK in 2018.
“He is in good shape already so it is on him and us to fit him in to the team,” added the Greek head coach, “We talked a couple of times already, and I like his motivation.”
With the Queen added on his reputation of a perimeter defensive specialist. Started this season with 12.2 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.4 steals per Basketball Champions League affair, also posted 9 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.2 steals per Basket League appearance.
CSKA is currently tied for fourth place in Europe’s premier club competition thanks to its 12-6 W-L record. Sits in second place of the VTB United League with a 10-4 tally.
