K.C. Rivers feels that the “Zalgiris Kaunas experience” has been overall satisfying enough to make him want to extend his stay for the next season.
“Hopefully, I’ll sign with another EuroLeague team. Hopefully, I’m back with Zalgiris,” Rivers told Eurohoops when asked about what he expects from the 2020 free agency. The American swingman joined Zalgiris in November after beginning the season in Spain with Real Betis.
“I definitely could see myself going back here [Zalgiris],” Rivers added. “Great fanbase. The city is OK and the community around the club is very nice. It’s something I could definitely consider being around.”
Rivers has spent nearly the entirety of his career so far in Europe, playing in various countries and competing with such clubs as Real Madrid, Panathinaikos, Crvena Zvezda, Bayern Munich, Khimki Moscow, and Virtus Bologna. He’s won titles in three different countries and was crowned EuroLeague champion in 2015 with Real Madrid.
What’s the key for an American player to establishing in Europe and having such a successful career? “Adaption. It’s just how well you adjust and adapt to where you are. Each country and each city have their different methods of living and the way they do their culture thing. It’s just a matter of understanding adapting and being happy where you are. Happy with yourself and your life decisions.”
