Valencia took full advantage of its rotation in the fourth period and grabbed a 66-59 victory against FC Bayern Munich on the road for Round 24 of Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.

With less than three minutes remaining in the game, Aaron Doornekamp hit net from the three-point line to place Valencia ahead 60-52, and while Bayern recovered some ground (57-62, 49”), Doornekamp was there to seal the deal for Valencia, exiting the court with 11 points and four rebounds.

Mike Tobey came in clutch in the fourth period and finished the game with 11 points, five rebounds, while Vanja Marinkovic posted 10 points for the winning side.

On the other end of the court, Greg Monroe paced Bayern in the first half and went out with a game-high 15-point performance, along with six rebounds and two steals.

Valencia recovers with fourth-quarter comeback

The Spanish team arrived in Munich coming from a heart-breaking defeat by Barcelona on Wednesday, though managed to get back in the game after trailing 30-24 at halftime. The visiting side stepped up with a 21-13 run in the fourth period, led by Doornekamp and Tobey to improve to a 12-12 record in the standings and remain in playoffs sight.

“Very tough game, because I think that Bayern Munich did a very good job on defense. They played tough, they broke our dynamic, and we didn’t play well. But we changed and understood mentally how we had to play this game”, commented coach Jaume Ponsarnau following Valencia’s victory.
