Following FC Barcelona’s road win against Panathinaikos OPAP on Friday, Alex Abrines talked to Eurohoops about his former teammate, Russell Westbrook. Between 2016 and 2019 played alongside the American guard at the Oklahoma City Thunder enjoying his 2017 MVP run in the process.
“He is an inspiration. He plays hard. Gives 100% in every game and in practice,” took out the 26-year-old Spaniard swingman, “Doesn’t matter who he is up against.”
Last summer, Abrines signed a two-year contract to return to Barcelona. His NBA tenure featured 185 games with the Thunder and forming a close relationship with Westbrook.
“Sometimes shots are going to fall off, but you have to keep intensity high,” he added summing up, “If you have the talent, you are going to play some good games.”
Barcelona improved to 19-6 in Europe’s premier club competition with the “W” in Athens. Abrines’ contribution so far comes in the form of 5 points and 2.2 rebounds per contest.
