Barcelona guard Malcolm Delaney surely agrees with Luka Doncic’s comments that it’s easier to score in the NBA compared to Europe. The Dallas Mavericks star had cited reasons such as the smaller court in Europe plus the 3-seconds rule in the NBA.
“That’s just the facts. It’s two different styles of basketball. In Europe, everyone packs in into the paint. The NBA has more space. That’s the biggest difference,” Delaney said to Eurohoops after the road win of his team over Panathinaikos Athens.
Delaney began his professional career in Europe back in 2011. He played overseas until 2016 before signing his first NBA contract to join the Atlanta Hawks.
What’s his advice for players coming to Europe from the NBA when it comes to adjusting the right way? “They have to play team basketball. A lot of people come over here and think that they’re better or more talented and they can just score. If you don’t adapt well to the team basketball… and you have to be able to shoot if you want to score big points. That’s the biggest thing. It’s very simple.”
