ASVEL owner Tony Parker spoke for the first time after Edwin Jackson’s departure from the team (loaned to Estudiantes), after the player’s comments in regards to ‘not receiving enough playtime‘. Jackson spoke to the press early in February, stating that he “didn’t return to ASVEL to play five minutes per game”.
“My first reaction? I was disappointed. I thought he was smarter than that. At this stage of his career, you know very well that you can’t tell what’s going on in a locker room. Anyone can be frustrated but there are things you can’t say” tells Parker in a recent interview with RMC Sport.
“After he spoke, there was not much to do. I had to defend the coach, nobody is above the club, the project. It will always be the most important. The coach is still important in our club. [..] Of course, it must be tiring sometimes to have someone screaming and asking for discipline. If you can’t play for a coach like that, you have to change club because we ASVEL want to win titles”, adds Parker.
