CSKA Moscow President Andrey Vatutin spoke about the club’s situation currently due to the coronavirus outbreak and also noted that although there are no games, the players are continuing with their training.

While answering fan questions on the VK social media account of CSKA, Vatutin explained the current situation: “CSKA players are now playing against our second team. On Monday (16/3) they faced each other. By the decision of the club, all players continue to train. However, you have to understand that it is very difficult to be in training without gamesIt’s hard to work out when you don’t know the date of the next game. The medical team monitors the status of players and coaches daily. We follow all the recommendations of the state. However, it must be understood that no measure can be exhaustive.”

While he wishes for the season to continue, Vatutin also puts health above basketball and believes EuroLeague won’t be back soon: “We want the season to continue, this is a common desire of the fans, the players. But health is much more important than basketball games. Nobody in the Euroleague is able to set specific deadlines. The situation (with the outbreaks), to put it mildly, does not improve. The momentum in European countries is unfortunately negative. To say that the Euroleague will restart this date is an illusion. ”

The club president also talked about the current and future contracts: “This is a complicated situation. First of all, we would like to finish the season, but here things are not ours. All Euroleague, VTB League and Europe teams always have their roster reinforcement in mind. Also, do not forget that the financial situation in the world can affect players’ contracts. We know in which places we need help. We are aware of our weaknesses and will try to correct them. We are in negotiations with our players and those we want to see in the team in the future. However, the situation with coronavirus can lead to serious rearrangements.”
