Maccabi Tel Aviv has informed the team’s players and coaching staff that they can return to their countries or stay in Israel at their discretion. The Israeli club has suspended all activity due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Maccabi is the third EuroLeague team to take this decision after Olympiacos Piraeus and ASVEL Villeurbanne. EuroLeague was suspended until further notice on March 12.
On Monday (16/3) the Israeli Winner League decided to suspend the season until further notice following consultation by the Israeli Sports Ministry and Ministry of Health.
According to the latest update, there are 298 reported coronavirus cases in Israel, with nearly a quarter of the infected people having shown zero symptoms. The Israeli government has banned all gatherings of more than 10 people.
