The basketball team of Real Madrid has agreed to take a 20% salary cut if the soccer season in Spain won’t resume at some point, initially reported by AS and confirmed by the team’s announcement. If the soccer season restarts then the pay decrease will be 10%.

Felipe Reyes and Sergio Llull, the co-captains of Real Madrid, represented the entire team while accepting the proposal by the club.

Whether EuroLeague or the Spanish ACB League will continue won’t have any effect on the salaries of the players and coaches of the basketball team since revenues are tied with the football department.

EuroLeague shut down until further notice on March 11 while ACB has also been suspended indefinitely.

According to Eurohoops’ information, Real Madrid was among the three EuroLeague teams, along with Turkish power Anadolu Efes and fellow Spanish side Valencia that wouldn’t proceed to make any salary cuts.
