Maccabi Tel Aviv is waiting to see what will happen with the prohibitions that have been imposed due to the coronavirus pandemic, in order to begin preparing the new season’s roster.
As Maccabi coach Giannis Sfairopoulos mentioned in an interview with the Greek national television, since the team’s season tickets cover a significant part of the annual budget, the club can’t yet make any plan for 2020-2021 due to the indefinite ban of public gatherings.
“We haven’t done anything ahead of the new season and we won’t do because a large part of Maccabi’s budget is depended on season tickets. Almost 10,000 out of the 11,5 available for each game are sold. You realize that this is 50%-60% of the total budget. If we don’t have season tickets, if people aren’t allowed to attend games, we can’t make a program, a plan,” Sfairopoulos said.
“Anyway, we have many players with contracts for the new season, we just wait to see the total budget,” Sfairopoulos added.
