Timofey Mozgov is en route for a second go at returning to action with Khimki Moscow Region, said the Russian club’s GM, Pavel Astakhov.
“He will most likely remain with the team, We will launch talks to re-sign him,” he noted, “He was mainly focusing on recovering. It looks like he will be ready to play next season.”
Mozgov returned to Khimki last summer signing a one-year contract. The Russian center did not play in Turkish Airlines EuroLeague nor the VTB United League since but was set for his long-awaited comeback when the 2019-20 season was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“He was training with the team approaching game-mode status,” added Astakhov, “He felt good physically, as he was no longer bothered by his knee so much.”
The former NBA player was sidelined with a knee injury before opting to return to Khimki. Up to his injury, he competed in 494 NBA games, including 40 playoff tilts.
