CSKA Moscow is going to lose the sponsorship deal with Russia’s leading airline Aeroflot since the contract between the two sides won’t be renewed for the next season. According to the deal, CSKA received four million dollars per year by the company.
“With the situation with air transportation in the world, it’s now impossible to reply on the sponsorship,” CSKA president Andrey Vatutin said to Russian news agency Tass. The Russian seven-time EuroLeague champions have collaborated with Aeroflot since 2014.
Vatutin said that he hoped that the club will continue its sponsorship arrangement with Aeroflot, earlier in April. CSKA used a charter Aeroflot flight to travel to game destinations.
“With this tight calendar and two or three games a week, the support by the largest airline was important and necessary for us. The charter flight for a EuroLeague team isn’t a luxury but a necessity,” Vatutin mentioned.
