Crvena Zvezda president has been supportive of the idea to finish the season on the court but warned that all the sides should be realistic and take into consideration that the coronavirus affected differently the countries and the individuals themselves. And his team’s players were no exception.

“When the Euroleague and the ABA league will begin, we’ll know on May 24, when the Euroleague makes the final decision. We are committed to finishing on the court. But, we should be realistic, all clubs have a lot of foreigners, the families of our two players have problems with the coronavirus, there have even been death cases in the families. We’ll see what the situation will be,” Covic told TV Prva, per Nova.

Zvezda president explained the procedure before starting practices: “We started testing all the players, coaches and people who are employed and have contact. Afterward, we continue with the younger categories. First, a blood test was done, then there is a test for COVID-19, those who are negative go for further testing of physical preparation”

He also noted that there should be at least a month of training camps if the season is to continue. Zvezda will start practices in some form from next week: “The plan is to start training on Tuesday in the open courts of Kalemegdan. We are still at risk in parks and other places because we want to preserve our community.”
