Israeli League is expected to resume on June 20 and finish by the end of July but that schedule poses a problem for Maccabi Tel Aviv if EuroLeague decides to continue the season as well, since it would happen on July 4-26.
With that in mind, Maccabi sent an official letter to the league stating, among other things, that if EuroLeague resumes, the team won’t be able to attend the Israeli League games. It also noted that Hapoel Jerusalem representative said at the conference that they would have had the same mindset if they were in the same situation with the Basketball Champions League.
Maccabi also wrote that they will continue fighting to play all their games in front of a crowd, that the financial losses of clubs weren’t reflected upon at all, that they feel as if the safety and health protocols weren’t complete, and that the overall plan for continuing the season in Israel hasn’t dealt with many questions and lacks precision and detail.
The letter has been signed by the Maccabi Tel Aviv chairman Shimon Mizrahi who earlier also sent an open letter to the fans, explaining the recent events, the challenges ahead, and the desire of the organization to return to the courts and resume its activities.
