Ian Vougioukas was the latest EuroLeague player to be featured on our Eurohoops Lockdown series on Instagram Live, and he talked about a variety of things, including his future and short-term plans.

“Ideally, I’d like to finish my career at Panathinaikos. I don’t know if that’s a possibility, I have a +1 year on my contract with a team option. We’ll see, if the team likes to keep me, then ideally I’d like to. I do turn 35 this season, but I still believe I have the ability to help the team.”

The experienced big-man also talked about the rumors that have been going around regarding Panathinaikos’ future and next season’s team: “Just rumors. We can’t think anything much about it. We, of course, read about it, I try to keep myself up to date, but right now no one really knows what is going to happen. I don’t think even the people in charge know what will happen. As players, we stay positive.”

Besides Panathinaikos, Vougioukas took a stroll down memory lane from his years in the States, playing in the NCAA competition, while also signing his first professional contract in Olympiacos. He also talked about his time in some other European teams and countries, sharing some great stories from coach Obradovic, Jasikevicius, etc.

Finally, as every guest does on our show, he answered some rapid-fire questions which included EuroLeague’s best player, best starting five, as well as the toughest player to guard.
