Zenit Saint Petersburg is eyeing Alexey Shved, according to Eurohoops sources.
Talks between the prolific scorer and his current club, Khimki Moscow Region, regarding a contract extension are on hold, as noted by GM, Pavel Astakhov.
His latest solid Turkish Airlines EuroLeague campaign displayed 21.4 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per contest up to the decision to suspend the 2019-20 season, due to the coronavirus pandemic. In addition, he averaged 22.4 points per VTB United League contest including a 30-point showing against Zenit in early December.
Back in 2017, Shved inked a contract extension set to expire this summer. His free agency coincides with a slow market due to the financial impact of the pandemic.
High-profile additions are the goal for Zenit. Apart from the 2018 Alphonso Ford EuroLeague Top Scorer Trophy recipient, the Russian club’s list also includes Nick Calathes.
