CSKA President Andrey Vatutin mentioned in a recent interview with Russia 24, as adapted by sports.ru, that due to the coronavirus pandemic the club will have to significantly reduce its budget for the next season.
“One of the main problems at the moment is the loss of income. It is clear that we do not sell tickets, there are no games, souvenirs are not bought, there are no broadcasts. Zero income at this point for all basketball teams. We have already faced the fact that a number of sponsors, unfortunately, will not be able to continue their cooperation with CSKA“, said Vatutin, who had previously explained the implications of the coronavirus crisis to the team in regards to sponsorship deals with companies like Aeroflot.
“It is also clear that the club’s budget will be seriously reduced. I don’t want to exaggerate, because all European basketball teams are in a similar position. No team has concluded any contracts with players, there is no transfer activity. Club leaders are trying to figure out what will be the cap for future contracts,” he added.
