Fenerbahce team manager Cenk Renda evaluated EuroLeague’s decision to cancel all activities for the 2019-20 season on Fenerbahce TV and hopes that the preparation for the next season can start soon.
“As Fenerbahce Sports Club, we say ‘our priority is human health in every aspect’ and we respect this decision. A hard decision. I think EuroLeague officials and the 11 A-licensed teams there did not make an easy decision”, he commented.
“The priority in this decision was to find ways to deal with this virus. It was also necessary to consider the rules. There are foreign players present in the squads of all EuroLeague teams and they naturally wanted to spend this difficult period with their families and went back to their countries. It would be also a process for them to return from the countries they live in. After that, it was a different process to prepare these players mentally and physically for games. All of these difficulties were considered together and we respect the decision that was taken”.
“Studies for the new season will start as of tomorrow, there will be a restructuring. It started in October last year, and we started training in mid-August. We hope to catch up on our previous activities as soon as possible and we hope to start our work soon. I believe that with the new season, everything will be more beautiful”, added Renda.
