Sarunas Jasikevicius is enjoying his family vacations in Greece, but his summer break coincided with probably one of the most critical moments of his career.
With Zalgiris Kaunas forced due to the COVID-19 pandemic to cut its budget and with the team already overachieving under Saras during the last few years, the timing seems right for the next step in his career. And big-time opportunities are knocking on his door.
During the last week after the decision of Zeljko Obradovic to leave Istanbul, Jasikevicius became the top target of Fenerbahce for the vacant coaching position. The same happened today, after the decision of Barcelona to part ways with Svetislav Pesic.
The Calatan club made contact and presented its case to the Lithuanian coach.
Both options are excellent with two EuroLeague powerhouses giving him the chance to win big in the top European competition.
So, Saras simply can’t go wrong no matter what he will ultimately choose. However, Jasikevicius has a special emotional relationship with Barcelona, and in the end, that might make all the difference.
