FC Barcelona renewed Brandon Davies’ contract up to the conclusion of the 2021-22 season, the Spanish powerhouse announced on Wednesday. Davies is set to reunite with recently-appointed head coach Sarunas Jasikevicius after playing under his guidance at Zalgiris Kaunas.
The 28-year-old American center naturalized citizen of Uganda moved to Barca last summer. Coming off his two-year Turkish Airlines EuroLeague experience with Zalgiris powered his way to 9.6 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.1 steals per contest in Europe’s premier club competition up to the premature ending of the 2019-20 season due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In contrast, Davies and Barcelona completed the 2019-20 ACB campaign through a season-ending tournament. He averaged 11.6 points per game prior to the hiatus and returned with 10.4 points and 5.0 rebounds per match over seven summer appearances.
The BYU alumni made his way to 78 NBA games early in his career but quickly established himself in the Old Continent. He went through solid seasons in France with Chalon and Monaco, and in Italy with Varese prior to his EuroLeague jump.
