Ergin Ataman spoke to A Spor on Tuesday about Efes‘ plans for next season and confirmed the club has agreed to contract extensions with all of its players, including Shane Larkin.
“Unfortunately, the pandemic has had a huge impact on every sector in the world. As a result, the EuroLeague could not continue. But we will end this story we started. In this regard, we did not make any changes to the team. We preserved the team. Only Alec Peters left our squad. Peters could not take many more minutes since Moerman recovered with Chris Singleton in that position. All of our other players will continue to be with us”, mentioned Ataman.
“We kept all our players, especially the superstar of the past season, Shane Larkin. With the same belief, synergy and seriousness, we want to enter the season in the same way with the support of the Turkish people. This is a sport after all. We had a great momentum last year and we were playing good basketball. I am very hopeful for the next season”.
Despite the cancellation of the season due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Efes coach remains hopeful for next season and also commented on the strong transfers market during this offseason.
“Although the sports industry took a hit in the pandemic period, our competitors made very important transfers. CSKA Moscow, Armani Milano, Real Madrid and Barcelona made some big moves. But we trust ourselves. We will be at Sinan Erdem again with the same roster and excitement. I hope there will be no troublesome pandemic process this season”, he said.
