Zenit has signed Billy Baron to a two-year deal as the club announced Wednesday. 29-year-old Baron arrives to the Russian club from Crvena Zvezda where he spent the previous two seasons.
The American guard was one of Zvezda’s key components during the 2019-20 season, with an average of 11.6 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists in nearly 25 minutes over 26 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games.
In the 2018-19 campaign, Baron led Zvezda to the Serbian League title, scoring a game-winning buzzer-beating layup in the title-clinching 75-76 win over Partizan NIS Belgrade. He earned finals MVP honors, averaging 17.0 points. Baron also helped Zvezda lift the Adriatic League trophy.
He started his career with Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius of Lithuania, and also played for Spirou Charleroi of Belgium, UCAM Murcia of Spain and Eskisehir Basket of Turkey before joining Zvezda in 2018.
