ALBA Berlin Sports Director Himar Ojeda Pérez spoke to Walla about keeping Hapoel Jerusalem’s Tamir Blatt on their radar for next season and how he fits the team’s profile.
“We developed a profile for the players we want. This summer we lost four players who performed successfully with us and doubled their salaries at other clubs. If Tamir continues to develop and work hard, he has an advantage. He is the type of player who is willing and willing to learn. We watch him quite a bit, because we wanted to see that he is able to translate his qualities into a team. We see his development over time, and this is evident even now, in the season finale of the Israeli league”, stated Ojeda.
The German League champions are also willing to continue their co-operation with coach Aito Garcia Reneses, though as Ojeda commented, this has nothing to do with their plans about Blatt.
“About two weeks ago, when the season ended, Aito asked us to take a break, rest at home and make decisions. As long as he wants to coach Alba, he will stay. He told me that if he continues to coach, it will be only with us and not with any team. I am optimistic about the possibility that this will happen next season as well. But the question about this or that player is not related to him, because we work according to a certain method that is the way of the club.”
