Real Madrid signed forward Alberto Abalde to a five-year deal, the Spanish powerhouse announced. Abalde had terminated his contract with Valencia after exercising his buyout clause on his contract with the club.
The 24-year-old Abalde is widely considered one of the most interesting Spanish players of his generation. In 2019-2020, he averaged 7.8 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 21:42 minutes over 23 EuroLeague games along with 8.7 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 17:57 minutes over 27 matches of the Spanish ACB League. He was named to ACB’s All-Second Team.
Abalde had a particularly standout run in ACB’s Final Phase, posting 14.8 points, 3.8 assists and 3.0 rebounds to help Valencia reach the semifinal stage.
