Panathinaikos president Takis Triantopoulos said that while both the team and guard Nicolas Laprovittola have a mutual interest to join forces, there hasn’t been any progress due to a delay in the termination of the player’s contract with Real Madrid.
“We’re waiting for the termination of his contract with Real Madrid. I don’t know what’s keeping them back,” Triantopoulos said in an interview with SDNA’s “Face2face” web show. “We know that he has a contract that he tries to terminate. We have verbally expressed interest and he’s said that ‘yes, I’m interested.’ Of course, we fear the presence of other teams. He’s an excellent player. The thing with Real is how they centrally manage this crisis, there are some processes going on. We hope there’s a happy ending. The more these situations delay… it’s not good.”
Eurohoops has reported that Real Madrid is still undecided on whether Laprovittola will stay with the team or not. The Spanish powerhouse may choose to continue with the Argentinian player, especially if they will lose starting point guard Facu Campazzo to the NBA.
