Jayson Granger is in talks with Bayern Munich, sources told Eurohoops’ Stavros Barbarousis. The Uruguayan guard is a free agent after the completion of his three-year contract with Baskonia.
Granger finished 2019-2020 as the Spanish ACB League champion with Baskonia after fighting through an Achilles tendon rupture that sidelined him for most of the season and prevented him from participating in any EuroLeague game. He made his comeback in Game 1 of ACB’s Final Phase by posting 12 points and five assists in a win over Bilbao.
In an interview with Uruguayan radio Basquet de Primera (per Noticias de Alava), Granger stated that he will continue his career away from Spain and that his goal is to stay in EuroLeague. He also mentioned that he’s currently negotiating a contract with a club.
“We’re negotiating and seeing things in the contract,” Granger said. “The intention is to continue in EuroLeague and if everything continues like now, I hope to be playing in this competition again. I can say that 99 percent, I won’t play in Spain. My idea is to sign for a year with a new club and use it as a springboard. This is what we are negotiating now,” the longtime EuroLeague guard added.
