Turkish Airlines EuroLeague regular Jayson Granger joins ALBA Berlin, the German champions announced on Sunday. He penned a one-year contract, the press release notes.
“Coming to Berlin was not a difficult decision for me at all,” said the first-ever Uruguayan player in ALBA history, “I like the philosophy and styled established here and I am happy to continue playing in the EuroLeague. Very few can imagine how hard I worked towards my comeback last year.”
Granger, 30, recently released by Baskonia is a veteran of 148 EuroLeague matches between the team based in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Anadolu Efes, and Unicaja Malaga. The Berlin outlet will be his fourth in Europe’s premier club competition.
“Performing quite well in the ACB season-ending tournament provides me an extra push for the upcoming challenges,” he added, “I simply love playing basketball and would do anything for the sport. I am very grateful for the trust placed in me by ALBA and I am really looking forward to the next season.”
Born and raised in Montevideo, the prolific combo guard has spent his entire professional career in Europe. He started off with a five-year stint at Movistar Estudiantes, prior to joining Malaga in 2013, Efes in 2015, and Baskonia in 2017.
His previous campaign was highlighted by returning from the injury list with 3.6 points, 2.7 assists, and 1.4 rebounds per contest in ACB’s season-ending tournament and helping Baskonia capture the domestic championship.
Other ALBA newcomers include Simone Fontecchio, Ben Lammers, Maodo Lo, and Louis Olinde. Tim Schneider inked a contract extension.
