Olympiacos Piraeus announced that forward Kostas Papanikolaou tested positive for COVID-19. Papanikolaou was found to be carrying the coronavirus during the testing ahead of the team’s preseason preparation.
Per Olympiacos, Papanikolaou is asymptomatic and currently under home isolation. His condition is constantly monitored by the club’s medical team.
Papanikolaou is the second member of a EuroLeague team that tests positive for coronavirus these last days. On Friday (7/8), CSKA Moscow announced that head coach Dimitris Itoudis is COVID-19 positive.
The good news from Olympiacos in the COVID front is that one day after the delay of their arrival, Shaq MacKissic and Charles Jenkins found the way to travel to Greece and they are already in Athens.
