Real Madrid coach Pablo Laso has been pleased with the performances of newcomers Alberto Abalde and Carlos Alocen and the speed of their adjustment to the squad.
“I have seen them well, integrated into the team,” Laso said following Real Madrid’s preseason win over Estudiantes, per the club’s website. “They still have to know many mechanisms (how the team works) and their teammates but I think they have both played with desire and ambition. They played better defensively than offensively, but they have been able to integrate quickly into the team and the truth is that I am happy with how they worked.”
Abalde, who scored 10 points in his unofficial debut with Real, said the following: “I’m very happy to debut with my new team. We wanted to play after so many practices. It’s the first victory, we had many ups and downs but it’s normal. It helps us, new players, to adapt, pick up the pace, and prepare for the Supercup.”
Real Madrid is facing Iberostar Tenerife in the first of the two semifinals of the 2020 ACB Supercup on September 12. In the other matchup, Barcelona will play against Baskonia.
