Panathinaikos grabbed an 81-69 victory in its preparation game vs. Iraklis on Friday afternoon, though the team is alert due to Howard Sant-Roos’ exit from the court in the second period.
Sant-Roos suffered what it seems to be an ankle sprain and remained sidelined for the rest of the game. The Cuban guard/forward immediately received medical assistance by the team’s staff and he is expected to miss the next prep game against PAOK.
However, he has more than a good chance to return to action in the pre-season tournament in Kaunas.
The game itself was not that easy as the final score suggests. Iraklis entered the last period leading 58-57 and five minutes before the end, Panathinaikos had a seven-point lead (69-62).
The scorers of the game were not given to the public after a joint decision of the two teams.
UPDATE: Sant-Roos will miss the upcoming match vs. PAOK Thessaloniki (Saturday, 5/9) and will be available for the Kaunas tournament of 12-13 September.
