CSKA Moscow had to play without Nikola Mlutinov who got himself a case of food poisoning but it didn’t stop them from beating Zenit Saint Petersburg 78-72 in the preseason clash.
Mike James led the victorious effort with 23 points while Will Clyburn logged 18 points and nine rebounds, flirting with a double-double. Daniel Hackett added eight points.
James was already in double-digits (11 points) by halftime, however, CSKA was trailing 42-38. Zenit was also up 58-53 at the end of the third quarter but they couldn’t hold on until the end.
CSKA’s lineup started joining in on James’s strong performance, especially so Clyburn who banked 12 points in the fourth quarter. With James’ six points, the duo scored 18 of 25 points for CSKA in the last ten minutes and outscored Zenit which had a total of 14.
