With five players scoring in double figures and Kostas Sloukas providing ample playmaking, Olympiacos beat Bayern Munich 82 – 68 in the two teams’ closing match of EuroLeague’s “WE’RE BACK” tournament in Valencia, Spain.
Sloukas dished out 13 assists to go with his seven points and set up his teammates with many scoring opportunities. Hassan Martin (13 points), Giannoulis Larentzakis (13 points), Sasha Vezenkov (12 points, eight rebounds) and Giorgos Printezis (12 points) and Kostas Papanikolaou (11 points) led a balanced offensive effort by the Reds.
Vladimir Lucic (11 points) and Malcolm Thomas (10 points) were the top scorers of Bayern Munich. The German side began the match leading 17 – 10 but saw Olympiacos catching up to close halftime down 33-32. Coach Giorgos Bartzokas’ players dominated the third quarter 27 – 17 and preserved a safe advantage for the rest of the game.
