Players will wear their own selected messages in the back of their jerseys starting Round 3 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague in a way to raise awareness on important social causes and make their voices heard.
Per EuroLeague:
In the opening rounds of the new season, Turkish Airlines EuroLeague players and clubs have made their voices heard on important social issues that are moving millions of people around the world.
Euroleague Basketball and the EuroLeague Players Association have taken a stand against racism and discrimination of any kind with a joint campaign: Not In Our World
The campaign is based on the following pillars, shared by both organizations:
Fighting against racism.
Fighting against discrimination.
Fighting against inequality.
Fighting against intolerance.
To make their voices heard, teams and players decided together on social justice messages which were worn on warm-up t-shirts during Rounds 1 to 4. Some of those messages included #FIGHTRACISM, Equality, #NotInOurWorld, Rot Gegen Rassismus (Red against Racism), Justice, Freedom, By Any Means Necessary and Stronger Together.
Individual players also chose to deliver specific messages on their game jerseys in place of their own names during Rounds 3 and Round 4. Among their choices are: Unity, End Discrimination, End Racism, Respect All, Humanity, End Human Trafficking, Peace, Enough, I Can’t Breathe and We Are One.
The need to raise all voices to promote tolerance has never been greater, and Euroleague Basketball is proud to stand with the EuroLeague Players Association to make it clear that racism, discrimination, inequality and intolerance are #NotInOurWorld.
