Veteran EuroLeague coach Svetislav Pesic doesn’t plan on taking over a team this year but also retiring anytime soon. Pesic last coached Barcelona, with which he parted ways last July.
“I’m in transition. I won’t say I finished my career because I feel I can provide more, but I don’t know where and when,” Pesic, 71, said in an interview for Sporski Zurnal.
There’s a pretty specific thing that is preventing Pesic from announcing the end of his career. “If I knew that I wouldn’t miss basketball in a year, I’d announce that I’ll stop.”
Whatever Pesic’s next coach endeavor might be, it will likely not take place this year due to the coronavirus crisis. “Not this season. I’ve already made the decision that I won’t coach any club, I want to see how the situation with the pandemic will develop.”
Pesic doesn’t see himself fully taking over the team and considers more likely to join a club as an assistant. “It may be more appropriate for me to hold clinics, seminars, lectures in Serbia, I may eventually be an assistant coach to someone. I have not yet made any decision on what I will do in the future.”
